Around the NFL: Week 17

I must say its a little bittersweet with this post being the last "Around the NFL" regular season post! What a season!!

SCORES

  • Tampa Bay 22, Atlanta 17
  • New York Jets 9, Buffalo 28
  • Baltimore 17, Cincinnati 23
  • Chicago 26, Detroit 24
  • Houston 16, Indianapolis 28
  • Carolina 44, New Orleans 38
  • Philadelphia 7, New York Giants 42
  • Cleveland 10, Pittsburgh 24
  • Jacksonville 20, Tennessee 38
  • Kansas City 3, Denver 38
  • Green Bay 34, Minnesota 37
  • Miami 0, New England 28
  • Oakland 21, San Diego 24

  • Arizona 13, San Francisco 27
  • Dallas 18, Washington 28
"Black Monday" hits the NFL a little hard. Arizona Cardinals fired Ken Whisenhunt as well as the general manager, Rod Graves. We can't forget how these two led the team to an almost Super Bowl win. Not figuring out the quarterback situation or even the offense for that matter probably did not help their cases. Thinking about how New England lost to this not-so-great team is still so frustrating. Buffalo Bills fired Coach Chan Gailey. It's still unclear if the Bills' general manager will be fired as well. Buddy Nix better be saying some prayers. The past three seasons haven't been the greatest for the Bills. Norv Turner and the general manager A.J Smith was let go as well from the San Diego Chargers. Many knew Sunday after a loss in Philadelphia that coach Andy Reid is out as head coach. Maybe he'll make an appearance for San Diego. Lovie Smith of the Chicago Bears was axed. Reports claim that general manager, Phil Emery will hire his own man for the job. Kansas City Chiefs fired coach Romeo Crennel. It's also unclear if the general manager Scott Pioli will still have a job. Cleveland Browns let both coach Pat Shurmur and Tom Heckert go. I explained a little bit of this in a past post "Heading into Week 17." Unfortunately, Rex Ryan is still the head coach for the New York Jets but general manager, Mike Tannebaum was let go. There are still some coaches and general managers around the NFL that still are awaiting their fate with the league going into 2013 season.

New England succeeded Sunday with clinching the 2nd seed in the AFC as well as the first-round bye. Houston's loss to the Colts' helped with making that happen for the Patriots. Texans had to lose in order to drop to the 3rd seed and New England had to win against the Dolphins to clinch the 2nd seed and the bye. The Patriots succeeded by winning 28-0. Way to go fellas! Proud to be a Patriots fan!

Denver Broncos clinched the 1st seed and the first-round bye with their win against Kansas City yesterday 38-3. I love seeing Peyton Manning doing so well in Denver. If New England cannot perform well enough to throw us into the Super Bowl, I would rather see Denver than any other potentials in the AFC. Just saying.

Rookie quarterback, Robert Griffin III led the Washington Redskins to a victory against Homo Romo and the Dallas Cowboys. The win launches the Redskins into the playoffs. A lot of credit also goes to Alfred Morris. He managed to run for 200 yards and three touchdowns.
I would love to see RG3 playing in the Super Bowl his first season with the NFL. He definitely needs to be Rookie of the Year with everything he has brought to the Redskins since game one.

A Little Rant

**Before I even begin with my last "Around the NFL" post for the regular season, let me just make one thing clear...I am a DIE-HARD New England Patriots fan. However, I am also a Robert Griffin III fan as well. My rooting for RG's success does not make me a team jumper. I do not like the Redskins. I like RG. I can like whoever the hell I want and I don't give a rats' ass who gives a shit. There is no NFL fan handbook that says one can only like ONE team. It's no different that Colts fans rooting for Denver Bronco Peyton Manning. I have rooted for RG since before the NFL Combine. Fuck Andrew Luck. I don't care about what his stats are for the rookie season. Baltimore is going to tear them apart Saturday just like how New England tore them apart in November. With that said, SHUT THE FUCK UP!! I'm tired of all you fucking Luck fans talking shit nonstop. I don't give a rat's ass about Indianapolis Colts or Andrew Luck. I don't care how he plays. I'll never like the motherfucker and I'll never root for the Colts unless it benefits my number one team. People ask me why I want to move from Indiana, here's your answer. It's to get away from you fucking Colts fans who think the world revolves around this team and their "quarterback." It doesn't. Some do nothing but ram their opinions down non-Colts fans' throats. It's fucking ridiculous and absurd. You don't see me starting debates with non-Patriots' fans to try to get them to root for the Patriots. It's absolutely fucking dumb as hell to do that. It's a free country and people are free to like whatever fucking team that they desire to. I don't care if I live in Indiana, there's no law saying I have to fucking like the Colts. My heart goes out to Coach Chuck but goddamn, give it a fucking rest already. Not everybody in the United States agree with you fans that Luck should be rookie of the year. We all have our opinions so let us non-Luck fans have ours.**

Heading Into Week 17

Beast tight end of New England, Rob Gronkowski is expected to suit up and have some limited playing time this Sunday against the Dolphins. The Patriots play at home this week which will put an end to the regular season. What a hell of a year!

Chicago Bears' Matt Forte apparently plans on playing through some ankle pain Sunday. Forte has managed to sprain his ankle three different times this season. Its a critical to the Bears that they win against Matt Stafford and the Lions. He doesn't really have a choice. I think its a horrible idea but i'm not a Bears fan so i don't really care if he manages to do more damage to his already hurt ankle.

The odds of Brian Urlacher seeing some playing time this Sunday against the Lions is doubtful. He was seen participating on the field for the first times since his hamstring incident.

A big game for Homo Romo and the Dallas Cowboys arises this Sunday as they take on bad ass Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins. I would really love to see the Redskins winning this one. RG3 deserves to be in the playoffs this year, his rookie year. He's been in beast mode since day one on the field. Love him! He's definitely going to go far.

Rex Ryan has named Dirty Sanchez as the starting quarterback this Sunday against Buffalo. Greg McElroy is apparently out do to an abdomen injury as well as a concussion. What do the Jets have to lose besides their dignity? Their chance of making playoffs this season is officially over. A lot of blame goes to the Dirty S and Coach Chubbs. I think they would have a better chance to win if they started Tim Tebow just once but that doesn't seem likely. No wonder Tebow wants traded. He's in with this crazy media circus clowns. There's no hope.

New England just so happens to have at twenty players listed as questionable Sunday. But gotta give it to Belichick for making his injury reports so concise. Miami is short a wide receiver as Davone Bess is out again due to his shoulder.

San Francisco 49er Mario Manningham was placed on the injured reserve yesterday. According to reports he has some torn ligaments in his knee. Their defensive tackle Smith is also doubtful for tomorrow's game against the Cardinals. Justin is expected to play next week however.

3rd string quarterback Thaddeus Lewis will start Sunday against the Steelers as Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy are both out due to a shoulder injury.

Multiple reports are claiming that Cleveland is expected to fire not only coach Shumur but as well as the general manager Tom Heckert. The Browns are 9-22 after two seasons under Shurmur's coaching. I can see why they're being let go. The Browns are horrible. It's ironic because former owner of the Browns stated at the beginning of the season that ending the season 6-10 would be unacceptable. Right now, the Browns are at 5-10. Clearly they're about to be 5-11. There's just no way a third string quarterback is going to play like a badass against Rapistberger and the Steelers. (I almost typed the "Oilers" instead "Steelers" LOL) Cleveland just needs to just start fresh and build from the ground up, which shouldn't be hard considering they already suck ass.

Speaking of teams that suck, Philadelphia might not have Michael Vick next season. Reports state that he is not willing to renegotiate his contract. Not that I blame him. Renegotiating his contract would potentially mean a huge paycut. Apparently he is guaranteed three million dollars by February 6th. If released, he would be one of the first quarterbacks in the free-agency. Vick's not the best but he's managed to go to four Pro-bowls. Here's an interesting thought: What if Minnesota loses to Green Bay Sunday and the Vikings don't make it to playoffs and because of this, the Vikings cut quarterback Christian Ponder and picked up Michael Vick? Vick would end up have Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin which could be a good thing for Vikings fans. I honestly do not see Andy Reid having a job as the coach of the Eagles next season. He doesn't seem to be the brightest bulb in a tanning bed.

Speaking of Andy Reid, Pro Football Talk claim that Reid just might so happen to be interested in the San Diego Chargers. "Black Monday" could be the end of Reid's time in Philly. The Chargers are expected to fire Norv Turner, so could Andy be a good candidate for the Chargers? Yeah, let's take a coach of a losing team and put him as head coach of another sucky team. Perfect solution. Not. Maybe its not the actual players that are losing the game but maybe the coaching of the players is what is destroying these teams. What do i know though? Not much. Reid and Turner are not the only head coaches that could potentially be reaching an end with their teams, Cardinals could potentially fire Ken Whisenhunt and who could ignore the speculation that Rex Ryan might be canned from the New York Jets as well.

New York Jets' coach, Rex Ryan is known for a few things but having winning seasons is not one of them. He started as head coach of the gangreen team in 2009. That same year, Ryan and the general manager Mike Tannenbaum drafted good ole Dirty Sanchez with the 5th overall pick in the draft. What good did that pick do them? Anyways, that's a whole other blog that would just be fucking boring as hell so i'll get back to my original thought. This is a fatass who constantly has proclaimed that he's going to lead his team to the Superbowl...Still hasn't happened and i don't think it ever will for Ryan. His job security has been in question since the Thanksgiving game this year against the New England Patriots having let Tim Tebow play with two broken ribs and there's just no sign of this issue going away anytime soon.

But I've rambled on for way too long so let me just end with my picks of the week.

My Picks for Week 17: Atlanta, Buffalo, Baltimore, Detroit, Houston, New Orleans, Eagles, Pittsburgh, Denver, Tennessee, Green Bay, New England, San Diego, Seattle, San Fran, Washington

New England faced the Jacksonville Jaguars this past Sunday coming out ahead 23 to 16. Even with the win, the Patriots were not happy. It was great to have another win to the board but it was definitely a struggle. With it being against a 2-12 team, it should have been an easy win for the Pats, however that was not the case! Sources say that quarterback Tom Brady could be heard outside the locker room ripping in to the team for their performance. Not that I blame him. We barely made a comeback the week before at home against the 49ers. New England is currently the number 3 seed in the AFC, still fighting for a first week bye. You can pretty much guarantee that we won't be having home field advantage this playoff year.

Kansas City Chiefs have been in the headlines lately after the murder-suicide of Jovan Belcher's girlfriend and the player himself. However, the Chiefs find themselves in the headlines again after the assistant coach, Adam Zimmer was arrested for a DUI. The arrest was made not long after the loss to the Colts. He is the son of the Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. It's unclear if Zimmer will coach Sunday in the finale against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Highly doubt he will be coaching because the NFL does not condone these types of situations.

In a poll posted on ESPN.com, 40% of the people that voted think that the Green Bay Packers have the greater chance of winning the Super Bowl out of the NFC. Those votes came from the cities of Maine all the way to Alaska and Hawaii. Mississippi & Alabama voted that the Atlanta Falcons have the better chance. States Washington, Idaho and Oregon voted that the Seahawks have a better chance. I agree with the 40% although the 49ers could potentially make it.

Well that's all i have time for this week. It's been a quiet week in the NFL and its been a little busy on my end with the holidays and all. Merry Christmas everyone from mine to yours!! :)

Around the NFL: Week 15

No surprise here but the New York Jets are expected to make a quarterback change for the upcoming week. Week 16 the Jets take on Phillip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers. After another disgracing game, the Jets are now officially out of the AFC playoff race. Why the NFL chose the Jets vs Titans game for a prime-time game this past Monday, I don't know. Sanchez threw four interceptions last night and after losing a game-changing fumble, no wonder there's talk that his career could soon be over! I honestly feel a little sorry for Rex Ryan but then again, he's the dumbass that has continued to keep backing Dirty Sanchez.

Good news for the Indianapolis Colts! Coach Chuck Pagano could most likely return to Indy by Christmas time! For those that don't know Coach Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia during week 4, I believe. I'm in no way a Colts' fan but my heart & prayers continue to go out to Chuck! #chuckstrong

Ravens' quarterback, Joe Flacco, is being a little crybaby lately. He's been saying that Baltimore's record this season feels more like 0-14 instead of 9-5. Even after losing the game this past Sunday, the Ravens still managed to clinch the playoffs. Dallas ended up beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime. Baltimore has faced many injuries on all sides of the field. I don't really see them lasting past their first playoff game.

Dallas Cowboys have had their fair share of some drama this week. Josh Brent has made headlines for the second week in a row. He faces manslaughter charges after the death of his teammate Jerry Brown. Both Brent and Brown were both heavily intoxicated when the drunk-driving accident took place. Brown's mother has openly forgiven Josh Brent for the incident as the two were very very close. Dallas allowed Brent to sit on the sidelines this past Sunday against the Steelers which got everybody talking. Coach Garrett stated that there were no bad intentions on Josh being there other than for him to just be there to support the team. With this being such a sensitive topic to most, Dallas has banned Josh from all Cowboys games. It says a lot about a team who refuses to turn their backs on him. If it wasn't for the unwanted attention that came along with Josh Brent, I'm sure he'd still be able to attend games.

Sunday night New England Patriots faced one of the top defenses in the NFL in Foxborough. The 49ers came in to New England and left with a win. 49ers looked damn good, where as the Patriots looked absolutely horrible in the first half. Down 31-3 at the beginning of the second half, Brady led his team to a 28 point comeback only to have the 49ers have 62 yards kickoff return, placing the 49ers in good field range. Watching New England lose this game sucked but it is what it is. Time to focus on Jacksonville this week and prep for the playoffs.

Around the NFL: Week 14

At the end of week 14, New England is currently ranked no. 1 in the NFL Power Rankings. Whoo! Let's go Pats! After ending the first half of the Monday night game against Houston Texans 21-0, the Texans tried to catch-up. They were not successful. Patriots ended up beating the 11-1 Houston 42-14.

Now you would think that there would nothing but celebration in Foxboro today, however that was not the case. New England placed Donte' Stallworth on Injured Reserve. Appartently, Stallworth suffered a high ankle sprain on the reception of a 63-yard touchdown. Donte' was watching the Pats vs Dolphins game in the stands. Of course after the foot injury that has placed Julian Edelman on the IR, Stallworth was signed again. According to Albert Breer, the Patriots are expected to re-sign Deion Branch for what seems like the millionth time this season. Can't wait for Branch to be back!

Pittsburgh Steelers seem to have a little bit of drama right now with Rashard Mendenhall. He apparently has been suspended for one game for not showing up at the stadium for last week's game against the San Diego Chargers. He's not been the healthiest this year either. Mendenhall is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of this season. Things aren't looking good for Rashard as a Steeler right now. But who likes the Pittsburgh Steelers anyway?

With the way Kansas City has been playing they currently hold the top pick in the upcoming NFL draft in 2013. As of right now, this is how the '13 draft picks would go.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (2-11)
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-11)
  3. Oakland Raiders (3-10)
  4. Philadelphia Eagles (4-9)
  5. Carolina Panthers (4-9)
  6. Tennessee Titans (4-9)
  7. Detroit Lions (4-9)
  8. Arizona Cardinals (4-9)
  9. San Diego Chargers (5-8)
  10. Cleveland Browns (5-8)
  11. Buffalo Bills (5-8)
  12. Miami Dolphins (5-8)
  13. New Orleans Saints (5-8)
  14. New York Jets (6-7)
  15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-7)
  16. St. Louis Rams (6-6-1)
  17. Cincinnati Bengals (7-6)
  18. Minnesota Vikings (7-6)
  19. Dallas Cowboys (7-6)
  20. St Louis Rams...<---They got this pick from the Washington Redskins (7-6)
  21. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6)
  22. Seattle Seahawks (8-5)
  23. New York Giants (8-5)
  24. Chicago Bears (8-5)
  25. Indianapolis Colts (9-4)
  26. Green Bay Packers (9-4)
  27. Baltimore Ravens (9-4)
  28. San Francisco 49ers (9-3-1)
  29. Denver Broncos (10-3)
  30. New England Patriots (10-3)
  31. Houston Texans (11-2)
  32. Atlanta Falcons (11-2)

Happy Holidays

AFC Playoff Chatter

Just going to say this now. I would love to see Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos make it to the Super bowl. Here's why. As a Colt, I absolutely hated Peyton Manning. I blame the Colts' fan base. They put Manning on such a high fucking pedestal that they were constantly shoving Manning and his accomplishments down every non-Colts fans' throat. The way the fan base acted when it came to him was sickening. I absolutely love seeing Peyton thriving in Denver after being dropped from Indianapolis. Hooray, you guys had the number one pick in the draft and now have a young rookie quarterback that has promise. But look at Manning. He's playing like a badass his first year back after his injury. Peyton is turning the Broncos into a great team.

Of course, I love my New England team. I want nothing else besides the Patriots making it to the Super Bowl yet again. God, that would be fricken fantastic! But anyway, I digress to where I'm headed with this article.

Many Colts' fans are rooting for the Patriots tonight during the Texans vs. Patriots game. Houston is currently 11-1 and still have not put a hold on the AFC South. Beating the Brady and the Patriots, Houston can finally do that. And by doing so, there would be several candidates fighting for the second bye. If the Patriots win tonight against the Texans, they proceed to a 10-3 record, tying with Manning and the Broncos. Now, New England still has to play San Francisco, the Jaguars and the Miami Dolphins again to close out the season, while Denver faces the Ravens, Cleveland and Kansas City. The Broncos need the Texans and the 49ers to destroy the Patriots. It could happen.

But look at how the Ravens are playing. They are sucking ass. Maybe if Flacco shaved his unibrow, their luck could change. They could get the number two spot if they beat Denver. Ravens would then go on to play "Eli"te Cocksucking Manning and the VaGiants as well the Bengals.

Now I could talk about Pittsburgh but I don't really care to. I'm not a fan of spending my time on Rapistberger.

Let's take a look at the Colts. The Colts have to play Houston twice coming up, along with Kansas City. Texans also have the Vikings. Now if the Houston wins tonight and takes out the Vikings, Indy can take the South and win the tie-breaker as they both would be 12-4.
Now if the Patriots win, it'll be even more easier on the Colts. That happens, the Colts could end up having the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Jets who?

Fan Encounter

So i had an interesting encounter with a customer today. After telling me how he wanted to reach across the counter and rip my nametag off because it had the Patriots symbol on it, i immediately looked at the guy & told him that if he did that that i would then rip it right out of hands back & told him that i was in a horrible mood & to be careful with what he said next. he then kept running his mouth while i ignored his snide comments. he then asked me if i thought the patriots were going to win on Monday against the Texans. I told him that i don't know if we will bc the Texans look good and i then named all of these players from New England that were out for the game/season & all these different stats. he immediately apologized about his comments bc he didn't realize that i knew more about football than he actually did. he had underestimated my knowledge of football. he then started asking me to help him with his fantasy team bc he doesnt know any decent players in the nfl worth having. I asked him what qbs he had. His response: Tom Brady and Matt Schaub. I couldn't help but laugh b/c he was just making fun of TB 30 seconds earlier. He asked who he should start...My response was Matt Schaub. Of course Brady is going to play better than Matt but still. I told him that yeah Brady is sure to put up some points Monday night but with Gisele expecting any day now, that his mind is likely going to be somewhere else than the game.

I blew this man away with how much i knew about football in general.

Moral of this long ass story is don't doubt my knowledge of football just because i'm a new england fan and a girl. I know my shit. I could carry on a conversation for hours about football. When i'm not sleeping or working, I am literally on NFL.com, watching ESPN, on ESPN.com, Bleacher Report, Patriots.com, etc CONSTANTLY. My life has practically been nothing but football. Don't ever doubt me.

  • Houston Texans vs New England Patriots
Steelers' quarterback, Ben Rapistberger could be returning to the field this wewek against the San Diego Chargers. He's been out due to a shoulder sprain and a dislocated rib. Depending on how he performs at practice on Thursday will be the factor that decides if he plays Sunday or not. Don't really care either way. Not a fan.

M;y favorite rookie quarterback is set to have his jersey and cleats put on display in the Pro Football Hall of Fame after his record breaking of rushing yards. He topped Cam Newton's record Monday night when the Redskins took on the Vagiants at Washington. Way to go! He is a bad ass on the field and a gracious, charitable guy off the field. Sounds to me that this quarterback is one hell of a great guy.

New England's wide receiver Julian Edelman is most likely out for the remainder of the season with a foot injury. He left the game this past Sunday against the Dolphins. Having broke his foot, Edelman needs surgery so if you have Julian on your fantasy teams, its a great idea to bench him. Sucks for me because i'm a Patriots fan and have Julian Edelman as my starter in every league that I am in. Boo to that! Get better, Julian! Get healthy and just focus on next season!!!

R-r-r-r-rryan and the Jets

Rex Ryan has named Mark Sanchez as the starting quarterback for Week 14.
Dumb move, Rexy boy!! Dumb move.

* Philadelphia & Dallas game is currently in the fourth quarter. Philly 24, Cowboys 24. *
** Giants play Monday night at 830 against the Redskins. **

New England clinched the AFC East today with their win against the Dolphins. This is their fourth consecutive title.  The Dolphins started out with a unpleasant start. New England's first seventeen points were mainly due to a messy punt, a fumble and of course the 'roughing the punter' penalty. Miami could have landed themselves a touchdown if it wasn't for the penalty that came right along with it. Thank god they didn't because New England definitely wouldn't have clinched the East today. New England has now won six games in a row. This is also their 12th consecutive winning season. Miami's defense definitely brought their A-game today. Brady was sacked four times....boo.

Rex Ryan finally opened his eyes today and benched the guy he's been so adamant about protecting. Chubbs took Dirty Sanchez out during the third quarter and put in Greg McElroy. McElroy led the Jets on a 10-play, 53-yard touchdown drive. Sanchez's time in New York is rapidly coming to an end. You cannot keep playing as horrible as you are and still expect to be the starting quarterback. As much as i hate the New York Jets and Rex Ryan, this team needs to make a comeback because this is just an absolutely ridiculous embarrassment. I would bet money that Dirty Sanchez will not start next week.  Sucks for Tebow. Maybe if he didn't have the rib issue, he' would have gotten to play.

My facebook newsfeed was blowing up today with the outcome of the Colts and Lions game. Rookie quarterback led the Colts to one hell of a comeback. He threw a 14-yard pass to Donnie Avery with no time left which resulted in the game winning touchdown. Indy is still in pursuit of the wild-card hunt for playoffs. I cannot stand the Colts but it would be nice to see them in the playoffs. It would be something good for the team for Chuck. Gotta respect this team i guess.

I am not sure what the hell the problem is with Ndamukong Suh. he is such a fucking douchebag. After his unsportsmanlike conduct against the Texans on Thanksgiving, he should have been suspended. Apparently, he pissed of Indianapolis' right guard, Mike McGlynn, after Suh was dancing, pointing and laughing at Winston Justice after being tackled. Justice left the game with a concussion. What the hell is wrong this douchebag? Why does he keep getting away with this unsportsmanlike shit? It's absolutely ridiculous. It's disrespectful and just straight up disgusting. I have no sympathy at all for the Detroit Lions. You all suck and make me sick.

After Kansas City Chiefs' Jovan Belcher's murder-suicide put a damper on things in Kansas City today. Belcher killed his girlfriend then made an appearance at the stadium where he ended up turning the gun on himself. Chiefs came away with a win against Cam Newton and the Panthers. Brady Quinn made a statement about this horrible loss of a great player.

"When I walked in the locker room, I didn't look toward his locker. Then as i sat down when i first got in, i looked across and i saw his jersey hanging up, his locker was still filled with everything, and that's when it kind of hit me. it was kind of tough to step back and gain focus, what the task was in front of us, and more than anything else, as a player, we just wanted to try to come together as a team and bring some good to this situation, bring glory to the situation whenever you can." -Quinn
These deaths left their three month old daughter an orphan. Kansas City Chiefs are planning to put together a fund for the little girl. God bless them all!

Cleveland Browns' groundskeeper committed suicide in an equipment shed at the Browns' stadium. Absolutely two heartbreaking situations.
