The Arrest Heard Around the World

For over a week now, there has been an ongoing investigation in the death of a semi-pro football player. The man arrested for this death is none other than New England Patriots' tight end, Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez was arrested Wednesday morning when nine men dressed in suits walked up to his door, with multiple police cruisers in the vicinity. The charge he was facing was withheld until his arraignment earlier this afternoon. As some speculated, an arrest warrant was being put together for this man but everyone thought the charge would just be for obstruction of justice when it was, in fact, for 1st degree murder. Moments after being arrested New England released Aaron Hernandez from the team and released the following statement:
"A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss,” the Patriots announced.  “Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation.  We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing.  We support their efforts and respect the process.  At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do."
Hernandez is held without bail.

Many reports state that New England owner, Robert Kraft and head coach, Bill Belichick knew before the arrest that they would in fact release the tight end. What did Kraft and Belichick know before the arrest? It is a shocker for the team to not stand behind this man through this whole ordeal but think about it in the long run. People are still throwing the whole "spygate" thing in our faces. If we kept a murder suspect on our team, how would that look? It makes it somewhat appear that the organization and most fans condone this behavior.

Many seem baffled by the release. It absolutely baffles me too. A man gets accused & arrested for first degree murder and you think he should still have a place on the team? What world are you from? An innocent life was taken from someone & their family and friends. Aaron Hernandez made the decision to be a part of this sad ordeal and now must pay the price. Lloyd was murdered execution style and was uncooperative the whole time.

Moments before being arrested
I'm all for "innocent unless proven guilty" but the man already made himself seem guilty. Destroying  security surveillance and his cell phone wasn't the smartest idea. That screams that he either was very guilty of something or was trying to cover up to protect somebody else. Friends or not, when you have an 8-month old daughter and an excellent career, why risk losing it all for someone else's bad decision?

at his arraignment
Odin Lloyd was found on the 17th of June. Lloyd and Hernandez had been communicating with each other just others before Lloyd's death. According to the DA, the car keys discovered in Odin's pocket belonged to a car that was rented in Aaron's name. And the body was found not far from his home. Odin Lloyd had sent out a text message to a family member that was along the lines of "You see who I was with?" "NFL." It just gives the sense that he knew something was going to happen. Multiple sources claim that Odin Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee and baby momma. Lloyd was shot multiple times in the groin, arm, side, chest and back with a semi automatic weapon. Apparently, Hernandez shot Lloyd 3 times after  Lloyd exited the car and shot him two more times in the chest. Aaron Hernandez was shown on surveillance with a firearm and saying something along the lines of "you can't trust anyone anymore." Texts were also sent to others about Hernandez was mad because Odin talked to people that Hernandez had issues with. Home video was also found with an unknown person getting out of the car with a gun in his hand.

doesn't even look like he cares
Hernandez is being charged with first degree murder, one count of carrying a firearm without a license, two counts of possession of a large capacity firearm, two counts of possession of a firearm without a valid ID card. He pleaded not guilty to those charges.

It's not funny but still
I cannot accept Aaron Hernandez anymore. Even if its proven that he was not the one to the pull the trigger, he still was a part of it. He made his bed now he can lay in it. I hate seeing this happen and I hate to think that AHern had a part of this but it's happened. The best thing for New England and PatriotsNation to do is just pick up the pieces and move on from this. We are 71 days away from the start of the 2013-14 football season. I would rather the Patriots build up their entire team with new players than to have someone who obstructs justice in a murder case on the team. Yes I am a die-hard Patriots fan but I will not support Aaron Hernandez. It's clear he had something to do with it. Innocent until proven guilty was tossed out the window when he destroyed possible evidence.

"The involvement of an NFL player in a case of this nature is deeply troubling. The Patriots have released Aaron Hernandez, who will have his day in court. At the same time, we should not forget the young man who was the victim in this case and take this opportunity to extend our deepest sympathy to Odin Lloyd's family and friends" -NFL spokesman Greg Aiello

Who's laughing now?

R.I.P Odin Lloyd
My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's family and Hernandez's 8-month old little girl.
