Around the NFL: Preseason Edition Part 1

As I did last season, I will post a weekly post "Around the NFL" which will obtain all game scores as well as some tidbit information that happened that week. So this post is one of two preseason editions of "Around the NFL."

And I just want to inform everyone that my blog goes hand-in-hand with my passion and love for, not only New England, but also the entire NFL. I rely on several sources to help me get all the information that is out there for my particular posts. Nobody is moderating my posts. I will ALWAYS state my opinion as it is my blog and my blog only. Occasionally I will have some incorrect information and I apologize for that in advance. I have no degree in sports writing. This is basically just a hobby to me. Please don't be too critical on me. LOL. Now, with that said, let's get this post on the road. :)

I am not going to post any scores from the second preseason games yet. I'm going to wait until all games are complete.

Buffalo Bills have announced today that rookie quarterback, E.J Manuel will miss the remainder of the preseason due to a minor knee injury that is causing him to have minor surgery. Hopefully everything goes okay I think Manuel has amazing potential.

Third-string quarterback for New England, Tim Tebow did not perform well at all last night. Not only did he throw a pass that was intercepted by the Buccaneers but he threw a lot of passes....to the ground. It's really not too surprising but at the same time, it's redundant. There's only so many mistakes you can make when trying to make the roster on one of the most talented teams in the NFL. My personal opinion is that maybe Bill needs to give Tebow a chance as a tight-end and just see how that goes. He managed to complete one out of SEVEN passes for a negative yard with the interception. After a deep throw to rookie Dobson that was almost an interception, Tampa managed to drop that. Hopefully he gets better with time. The man is a very hardworking player and that shows but at the same time it doesn't. Hopefully he will have a different outcome this Thursday when New England heads to Detroit.

Wednesday, all of New England was hit with a horrible scare that we all dread to hear about. During practice with the Bucs, Brady twisted his knee a little bit. Luckily for us, it was just a very minor situation. Rumors, of course, spread that he was horribly injured and the media made it out to be a news story that blew Twitter up. Watching Brady during Friday's game, you would never have guessed that he had a scare. He completed 11 out of 12 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown, as well as a two-point conversion. Seeing Brady and his bunch on top of their game, it makes incarcerated Aaron Hernandez and Bronco short shit Welker appear as nothing but a distant memory. In two drives, former Rams' player, Amendola caught 5 passes. Sudfeld, Boyce, Edelman and Blount helped put some points on the board. Bravo boys!

Hakeem Nicks and Justic Tuck should be back on the field in no time after missing the past preseason games due to injuries. New York Giants and Giants fans should be chipper with that news.

Good ole Bernard Pollard managed to swoop up a fine already this preseason. Pollard was given a fine of $10,000 for a late hit that was deemed unnecessary. Pollard made the following statement before being fined...
"You have to look at (it) for me as a defender. I am already coming in and already going in to make the hit, so I don't see his other foot go out. He was inbounds and his other foot finally went out. As a defender, I am going to make the hit. I am going to hit you. There are times I have been late and there have been times when I've had solid hits, but for me, I can't worry about whether the league is going to fine me or not."
Looks like they did. Lions' Travis Lewis was fined $15,750 for a horse-collar tackle during the game with the Jets. Chargers Troutman was fined $15,750 for an illegal peel-back block. Both Steelers' Jason Worilds and Titans' defensive lineman, Nigel Nicholas were both docked for roughing the passer.

Not too long ago, Matt Elam was drafted as Ed Reed's replacement on the Ravens' but he has not participated yet during this preseason. Give it time. It's not like people care about the Ravens ayways. Lol.

Thursday night, Cleveland Browns' player, Barkevious Mingo, suffered a bruised lung. He is now out of the hospital.

One defense player that I absolutely canNOT stand is none other than Lions' tackle, Ndamukong Suh. This man is overly aggressive. He's a good player but he's an angry soul. During the game against the Browns, Suh violently shoved Trent Richardson, the running back. Of course, Suh wasn't flagged for that hit but after knocking Weeden to the ground, a 15 yard penalty for roughing the passer, he was flagged. I don't think it matters how many times he gets fined or the penalties he gets, Suh is not going to change anytime soon. He is a very dirty player and he manages to get away with it. It's ridiculous.

Well that is all the information I feel like getting there today. Hope you all have a lovely Saturday evening.

Fact/Fiction of the Brady Bunch

So today, Patriots Nation was rocked with news of Brady injuring his knee. After missing the 2008 season due to his ACL, this definitely sent a shockwave down our backs. Not only did this send us fans on the brink of tears and has us on high alert, but it also sent some dumbass opinions on this shit. It's annoying as fuck.

First, all of you NON-Patriot fans need to make sure you get your facts straight. This moment of weakness is temporary and will fade away.

FACT: New England is missing 3 key players that had a huge impact for this team the past few years. Last season, we lost tight-end Gronkowski due to a forearm injury during the Colts-Pats game. It was totally worth it to see my boys DESTROY the Colts 59-24. Although with his four surgeries and a back surgery later, us fans hope that he's on his way to recovery. Like I said, we've lost 3. Now, one loss that shook up the team was losing Wes Welker to the Denver Broncos, team of one Brady's top competitors, Peyton Manning. To me, this wasn't a loss. It was a gain. Ever since Welker dropped that game winning pass in Super Bowl XLVI, many have wanted that short fucker to be released from the team. After not being able to come to a long-term contract at the start of the 2012 season, his demise was imminent. Coach Belichick and owner Robert Kraft have both expressed concerns that they wanted Welker to remain a Patriot. Clearly that is not what his midget ass wanted. Everyone claims it was all about the money when no it wasn't. One of the top quarterbacks in the league took a pay cut in hopes of possibly being able to keep this short shit on the team, and he didn't. Welker had no intention whatsoever in staying. Instead, he signed with the Broncos for for a two-year contract for $12 million. Good riddance. The third key player that New England has lost is the murderer himself, tight end Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez was released in June following his arrest in the murder of Odin Lloyd. He remains locked up with no chance of being released anytime soon.

FACT: New England released Brandon Lloyd and signed Danny Amendola from the St Louis Rams. Mark my words, Brandon Lloyd will be back this season. Now with Amendola being on the team, many have shown concern in the fact that Danny has a hard time staying healthy. According to sources and spectators of training camp, Amendola has impressed the crowd and players tenfold. Hallelujah! Honestly, this doesn't really mean shit until the regular season. Welker who?

FACT: New England has some fresh young talent in the receiver end. Rookies they may be but remember who is throwing the ball. Tom Brady. Every talent this man throws to turns to gold. Aaron Dobson is very promising. Many, like myself, are predicting Dobson having a breakout season. He is already impressing everybody and we're just heading into week two of preseason.

FACT: Brady has suffered season ending ACL injuries in the past. However, like I said before, Brady was on the IR list back during the 2008 season due to an ACL injury. Second string quarterback, Matt Cassel, had to step up to the plate and try his best to get this team into playoffs. New England did miss the playoffs that year but they still had an 11-5 record at the end of the season. There was no Gronkowski. There was no Hernandez. There was Tedy Bruschi, Randy Moss, and Welker though.

FICTION: (this is the DUMBEST remark I have heard) NEW ENGLAND WON'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS IN 2013...Seriously? Why? Because Brady hurt his knee just a bit heading into week 2 of preseason? Because we no longer have Hernandez and Welker? Hernandez did not do a fucking thing for New England last season at all. Gronkowski spent most of the season injured. Welker couldn't catch passes accurately. Yet we still made it to playoffs. Saying that New England won't make it to playoffs because of the losses that we have had this offseason is seriously dumb as fuck. Do you not realize who our quarterback is? He's TOM fucking BRADY!! The man is a beast! He can make any player good. He's perfected what he does and it shows. This is one team that always give 110% every second on that field. These offseason moves are only pushing these guys to excel and prove everybody wrong. Do not doubt New England, Belichick or Brady. Winning is what these guys do. They deal with whatever hand they are dealt and they continue to strive to get it to perfection. 9 out of 10 times, they succeed.

My point is this: Do not discredit the New England Patriots. No matter what happens this team will continue to impress. They will keep proving all of the haters wrong. We WILL have a winning season. We WILL make it to playoffs. It doesn't matter if we make it to the big game or not. They tried. So quit with the spygate shit. Stop with Welker and Hernandez being the reason for our wins. Those two do NOT make the team. There are 51 other players that were on the field other than those two that helped us win games. Every player can be replaced. Even Tom Brady can be replaced. Talk shit all you want but at the end of the day, you're just fans of other teams that like to throw their opinions around like people fucking care. Nobody cares. Focus on your team and not New England. Maybe if more paid more attention to their own team than New England, maybe there would be other teams on top of the chain. Until then, shut the fuck up. Enjoy this season watching New England win more games than your lame ass fucking teams. New England fans do not give a rat's ass about your opinions of our team. New England probably has more playoff wins in 10 years than your team does in 25 years. So, like i said before...shut the fuck up. Take it away Brady!

Go New England!

Knock! Knock! It's Football Season!

Halle-fucking-lujah! Football season is finally upon us. The next four weeks should be a little preview on how the season could potentially go. Now this offseason has been one hell of a messed up season. With all of the injuries during training camp, the Riley Cooper "racist" remark, Welker throwing behind six years with New England for more money, and how could i forget the whole Aaron Hernandez situation this season should be interesting.

First let's look at some of the events that spiced up the offseason.

There's a lot that has happened so I'm just going to start with the whole Aaron Hernandez thing. Pretty much if you want to know my view on everything, just go back a couple blog entries and you can read it all yourself. Yesterday, I read an article on a letter that Hernandez wrote to a fan. In this letter, he claimed that he is NOT GUILTY and that he will one day wear the number 81 jersey for the NFL again. He even stated that when his name is cleared everyone who doubted him and turned their back on him will feel bad & look stupid. I'm sorry but Aaron is done in the NFL and no sweetie, nobody is going to feel bad for your ass. But on to something that is actually worth my time.

Now we all remember New England's quarterback, Tom Brady, took a pay cut on his own contract. This was when New England and wide receiver, Wes Welker, were still trying to come to an agreement. However, that it ended up being a mistake because the midget ended up signing with the Denver Broncos. Thanks for your hard work, Welker, but have fun dropping Manning's passes this year. I'm sorry. Welker is a great receiver but after that crucial dropped pass in Super Bowl XLVI, I have not wanted this man to be on the team. Honestly, this whole paragraph wasn't worth the time either.

With Hernandez AND Welker being gone, Brandon Lloyd was released, and Danny Amendola and Tim Tebow both became Patriots. Both have been impressing spectators during training camp this week. I just hope that Amendola can stay healthy all year. Sexy tight end Rob Gronkowski is currently recovering from all of his arm and back surgeries he's had since the Colts Vs Patriots game last season. Now with Tebow being on the team, many have speculated that he could potentially be used as a tight end for the team. Many keep bitching about him being on the team, but him making the 53-man roster would be a good thing. The man has skill. You have to give him credit where its due. Playing for the fatass and the Jets did nothing for this man except help make him an even bigger joke that what he already was. Every player says the same thing about him...he's hardworking and always tries to give 100%. Time will only tell. Julian Edelman has been cleared to play so that is definitely a breath of fresh air.

One of the offseason updates that I wanted to make regarding Riley Cooper would be better as a separate post altogether. I will be working on that post very soon.

I posted a blog post the other day with some of the recent injuries during training camp. Arizona Cardinals can now add Ryan Williams and Rashard Mendenhall to that list. Williams was spotted on crutches and Mendenhall with knee tendinitis. Kevin Kolb of the Bufallo Bills managed to twist his knee when he apparently slipped on a rubber mat. LOL is all i can say to that. New York Giants offensive tackle, Justin Pugh, will miss a few days of practice due to a concussion. Cortez Allen had a minor knee surgery Friday so we shall all see if he will still move to the starting lineup for the Steelers. There's so many more injuries to report but honestly, I just keep digressing to the whole reason for this post. LOL

THE FIRST PRESEASON GAME OF THE 2013-2014 SEASON IS TOMORROW, well technically tonight, AT 8PM. THE MIAMI DOLPHINS AND THE DALLAS COWBOYS FACE-OFF. TANNEHILL IS GOING TO LEAD HIS DOLPHINS TO THE FIRST WIN. NO WAY HOMO ROMO IS GOING TO PULL OFF A WIN.

Well I didn't get to say all that I had intended to say tonight but this will have to suffice. Goodnight, my readers.

Until Next Time...

Roger Goodell Speaks Out on Hernandez Situation

"It's a black eye," Goodell told NFL Network on Wednesday in his first on-camera comments on the issue. "You never want to see your players involved with anything off the field or criminal in any nature, and this is deeply troubling ... to see this kind of behavior. It is something we are not proud of. The Patriots obviously reacted very quickly and decisively, and now it's up to Aaron ... and he's going to be facing the criminal process," Goodell went on. "In the meantime, what we have to do is do everything we can to help our young people make the right decisions and evaluate our people when they're coming into the league. And make sure to do everything to avoid these kind of situations."
