Who would have guessed that LB James Harrison's last game with the Steelers' would've have been against the Patriots? Who also would have guessed that the next team he signed with would be the New England Patriots? Well that's exactly what happened the day after Christmas. December 26, Harrison was spotted in Foxborough expected to sign with his ex-rival team.
Pittsburgh released the 39-year old veteran and two-time All-Pro. Harrison cleared the NFL's waivers. Now those that follow New England, or football in general, know that the team's interest in the veteran linebacker makes sense considering all of the injuries and the limited depth that the Patriots lack at the the linebacker position this season.
With the signing of Harrison, comes the release of LB Trevor Reilly. Harrison only played in five games in 2017 when he was with the Steelers before his release on December 23rd. He has spent 11 seasons in Pittsburgh, but spent the 2013 season in Cincinnati before re-signing with Pittsburgh in 2014. His stats are pretty impressive I must say. He has played in 192 games with 117 starts. With that comes 516 total tackles, 82 1/2 sacks, eight interceptions, 33 forced fumbles, and nine fumble recoveries. In the postseason, he has played in 19 postseason games with 12 starts. With that game a total of 77 tackles, 11 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. I would love to see his numbers improve with this last game of the regular season with New England and to improve even more into the post-season as well.
All I know is that I'm so curious and anxious to see how he's going to perform for New England. I truly hope he's going to be such a great asset to the team and help us in the post-season! I want to see New England go on to get Ring #6 because let's face it, they fucking deserve it!!! All of the injuries we've faced this season: Julian Edelman, Dont'a Hightower, Malcolm Mitchell, Rex Burkhead, Stephen Gilmore (when he was out for several weeks), Chris Hogan, Martellus Bennett, Nate Ebner, Marcus Cannon, Cyrus Jones, Vincent Valentine, Derek Rivers, Shea McClellin and others in case I missed anybody.
But WELCOME TO THE TEAM, JAMES HARRISON!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll treat you right!!! ((Unlike Pittsburgh!))
