When Fans Collide

As most of you know, I am a huge New England fan but that's not the only team I'm a fan of. I'm a fan of the sport in general. I try to stay up-to-date with anything NFL related. I have made many posts about my feelings with the Colts and their fans, yet I feel like i need to clarify a few things..

I am not a Colts' fan obviously. I completely understand that they are the "home" team for the state I reside in. However, I am a New England fan. Indianapolis and New England have a huge rivalry that's been going on for years. I don't care about that. Yes I live here but as my personal right and opinion, I am entitled to like any other NFL team that I wish. The only thing I cannot stand about the Colts is some of their fan base. I have the upmost respect for the organization, players and the town. Just because I like a different team, it doesnt make me in the wrong. I am entitled to my opinion. A few Colts' fans that I have come across make it seem like I need to be taken outside and stoned or hung from a tree for liking another team. Why? Is my being a New England fan personally affect or hurt you in any way? No it doesn't. So why bitch at me and call me a "crazy" football fan because I stand behind a different talented team? The mindset of having to be a fan of your home team no matter what is a bit ridiculous. If I lived in Cincinnati, I'd still be a Patriots fan. If I lived in Seattle, I'd still be a Patriots fan. It doesn't matter where I live, I will still like the team that i want. No approval needed. I know I get too riled up when it comes to football but it's my passion. I never tell people that they shouldn't root for a team in particular, unless it's the Jets or Giants for obvious reasons.

I admit that when it comes to Indianapolis, I don't care too much about them. That's why I don't really know much about THAT team. I don't care who they draft, cut, sign, etc. In the past few seasons, I have paid a little attention but not much to who they pick up and all that. If they play New England, I want to see everything that there is to know about the rival team to prepare myself for what to watch and look for for that one regular season game. New England and Indianapolis do not play each other this year unless it's during the playoffs. I don't need to know and understand everything about them. There are talented teams that my team actually does play so I focus on them and go from there. And I honestly don't pay much attention to the 3rd string of ANY team. They're third string. They might not ever see any playing time so why focus on them?

New England is my number one team and always will be. I respect everybody's opinions on being a fan of other teams. I do. You don't like New England...great! It doesn't personally affect me so I don't care. You slam me and my liking of the team, that's when I have a problem with you. It is MY choice. Focus on your team and I'll focus on mine.
