The End of Welker and the Patriots?

Something a lot of people have been talking about is Wes Welker and the decrease in his role with the Patriots so far this season. First, New England and Welker fail to come to an agreement to a long-term contract, yet they have no problem giving Gronkowski and Hernandez long-term deals. Then comes the reduction in his role with the team in week one.

Now don't get me wrong. Welker is one hell of a badass receiver and he deserves a great contract, however, I really think his time in New England has run out. Watching him fail to complete a catch that he has done over and over, in the Superbowl this past year, was absolutely horrible. Does that have a lot to do with not coming to an agreement? I don't know. Maybe. I think it might have a little bit to do with it, but that's something we might not ever know.

I honestly think that the Patriots are preparing to trade Wes sometime in the near future. I'll be sad to see him go, but I think its the thing for them to do. With Hernandez out for 4 to 6 weeks with his ankle injury, you would think that they would plan to use Welker a lot more than what they've done thus far. But then they go and sign Kellen Winslow and re-signing Branch to a year agreement after cutting Deion in August and it definitely makes you think what New England's plotting to do. Maybe they're giving Welker less playing time to give the opponents the impression that Welker's not going to be thrown to and used quite as much that way Welker is open more & covered less to make it a hell of a lot easier for touchdowns. Who knows.

I guess we'll see what's going to happen Sunday night when the New England Patriots take Baltimore on the road. I am predicting Flacco and his birds to win this match-up. We barely beat them during playoffs last year, thanks to the missed field-goal attempt by the former Raven's Billy Cundiff.

Blah.
